I love a freshly scented room and I am always on the look out for things that can help improve my mood and environment. There are many ways to accomplish this. Aromatherapy is one of them. Depending on your preference, there are different ways you can choose from that fits your life. Let’s find out, Does Aromatherapy Work?

History Of Aromatherapy

Unfortunately, the practice of Aromatherapy and it’s history are a bit confusing. Up until 2005, it was thought to be around for a 1,000 years. An archaeological discovery on Cyprus, found a clay alembic still that was approximately 4,000 years old. The still was tested and indicated to perform distillations of rosemary, lavender and other botanical. There seems to be no evidence of other civilization using distillation outside of this region during this time period.

The Egyptians

The Egyptians used cedar wood, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and myrrh to embalm the dead. This was founded when a tomb was opened in the early 20th century. The remains still had traces of herbs that were discovered with intact portions of the body. Although it is suspected that most likely it was the ceder wood that went through their crude distillation process, where the others were most likely infused oils.

They also used infused oils and herbal preparations for their spiritual, medical, cosmetic and fragrant uses. In fact, it is said that the coined term perfume, from the Latin word per fumum, which translate as through the smoke. Egyptian men used fragrance just as often as women.

The Greek

Even though Greeks learned a great deal from the Egyptians, Greek mythology credits the gift and knowledge to their Gods. They also recognized the medicinal and aromatic properties of plants. The ‘Father of Medicine’ Hippocrates practiced fumigation for BOTH aromatic and medicinal benefits and Megallus, a Greek perfumer, used myrrh in a fatty-oil base which served for its aroma and anti-inflammatory properties towards the skin and to heal wounds.

The Roman

The Roman Empire expanded the knowledge by the Egyptians and Greeks. Discorides wrote De Materia Medica describing approximately 500 plants.

Eventually a better way of distillation was invented and we were able to extract essential oils instead of aromatic floral water. The field of Aromatherapy has grown ever so extensive over the years.

What are Essential Oils?

Essential Oils are compounds taken from plants. They are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor, or “essence,” of their source. The process of which it’s made is important, as oils obtained through chemical processes are not considered true essential oils.

If you buy one bottle at a time, it can be a bit expensive. Buying them in a set can have you spent way less.

One set I really love is Natrogix Nirvana Essential Oils as it is:

  • Therapeutic Grade Essentisal Oil Set
  • Perect Combination
  • Delicate Oils Protection
  • Highest Quality Guaranteed AND
  • Professional and Friendly After-Sales Services

So really, what do you have to lose when you gain a GREAT smelling environment that can UPLIFT YOUR MOOD and BEAUTIFY YOUR HOME!

My Love Of Essential Oils

There’s nothing like entering your home and taking a deep breath, as calming sensations flow through your body and negativity melts away. Where sleep can come a little easier, because your body is as relaxed as it can be. If you really give it a chance and add in some MEDITATION, your anxiety could decrease. Remember, this can HELP, it is not a cure.

I love coming home to a lavender scented home. Sometimes, I mix it with other essential oils, as it gives more benefits and can alter the scents, so you’ll have more to chose from! And having a choice is EVERYTHING, so use it when ever you can!

We Grow Stronger Every day, and EVERYDAY there’s GROWTH!

MUCH LOVE
