Clear skin is and will always be in for me! Think about it, with my oily, easily marked skin and bursts of surprise pimples was such a problem; that at one point makeup was a big thing for me to cover up what I didn’t want shown.

I, unfortunately, have always had an issue with my skin. My skin is oily with huge pores and I still fight it every day. Why? Because like everything else, you need to build your own personal routine.

Everybodys Everyday Routine

The best 5 things a person could do for clear skin are:

  1. Wash your face no matter what time it is; Morning and Night
  2. A lot of Water
  3. Do not pick at your skin
  4. Exfoliate every week
  5. Clean your pillowcase every time you do laundry

Water is good for your overall health. So the more you drink, the better you will feel and it can promote hydration and clearer skin. I definitely seen an improvement just increasing my water intake. Also, washing my face using a skin cleanser twice a day is a must. Think about all the bacteria living on any given surface, it’s pretty insane! Exfoliating is super important because you can scrub away dead skin and bacteria, which over time can improve your skins overall health. Please do not pick your skin, from experience and habit it is super bad. Your skin can become irritated and your skin can develop dark spots, swelling and even giant zits which are more often than not, ingrown hairs. Which are not pretty, I guarantee.

Skin Types- What is the difference?

We generally have three skin types, which are Oily, Dry or a mix called combination. Meaning that some areas can be drier than other areas. Like your nose or cheeks can be dry on a typically oily face. This can seem problematic but to be honest, all types need to be washed just the same.

Oily Skin – happens when the sebaceous glands in the skin makes too much sebum. Sebum is a light yellow, oily substance that is secreted by the sebaceous glands that help keep the skin and hair moisturized. Even though it causes moisture and is commonly a great thing for hair and skin, just like everything else; too much of a good thing is bad.

Exfoliate, because oily skin are especially prone to those dreaded blackheads, clogged skin and dead skin buildup. Although it is recommended that every one washes their face twice a day, this is especially essential to oily skin.

Dry Skin – happens when there are less oil producing glands on the face and body than its counterpart (oily skin). If the case is extreme, it can be flaky and cracked skin. I have found that Vaseline is a great way to lock in moisture for dry skin but not many people like the greasy feeling. This is the part where you find a thick lotion that works for your skin and you.

Even though it is recommended to wash your face twice a day, if you skip the morning clean you will be OK until the night.

Combination Skin – This is simply the two types of skin types, Dry and Oily that are located on different parts of your face. Usually, it’s in a T shape and the forehead, nose, and chin are oily. You need to develop a routine and stay on track so that your skin can get used to it. Also, uses a gentle cleanser.

The lotion that you should use are oil based which should be applied on the dry areas and non oil lotion for the oily locations.

The Do’s For Clearer Skin

With so many things attacking your skin like pollution, bacteria, and even hormones, we all need to find steps to lay on our defense. Each person is different. Our skin is a layer of protection that we must take care of because if not, how strong will our defense be.

A huge advantage is using a Cleansing brush. A cleansing Brush takes off way more dirt, bacteria and makeup from your skin than not using on. Therefore, providing the skin with a deeper cleanse as it exfoliate the surface of the skin, leaving it feeling and looking softer and smoother. This step can reveal a more clear complexion. This can be done as you wash your face, twice a day.

Using a Toner a with glycolic acid or salicylic acid to unclog the pores for clearer skin should also be involved in your night and day routine. In addition to helping you achieve clearer skin, toners can also balance your skin’s natural pH level. It can also soothe your complexion. A nighttime step for acne prone skin is to apply Tropical Retinoid. One that is made from antioxidant-rich vitamin A so that it can help to unclog follicles and may help acne treatments work better.

The Don’ts For A Clearer Skin

DON’T just use any face cleanser. A harsh face cleanser can strip you of most of your natural face oils. If you are prone to acne, keep using the gentle to mild face cleanser but put the stronger cleansers (for acne) for the parts that have acne. If the pimples are still popping up, look up a good dermatologist. When in doubt, consult a professional.

Also, do not pick, poke or pop pimples on your face. Yes, I know that’s a tall order. I still have so many issues with this, as I am always picking at my face. From my own experiences, it causes dark spots, pimple lumps and even breaking of the skin. So I try to be more cautious. Please be cautious with me.

A Cleaner, Brighter Face

As you go about your routine and make sure you don’t put on or do anything damaging, you will notice your skin slowly getting clearer. You will also, in time find out the best products for you. I used to order Ispy and loved trying its cleanser or buy something when it’s on sale. So no harm done if it doesn’t work for me. Find ways around the obstacles and you will have clearer skin in no time! And I can’t wait to see the results guys!
